Myakka Elephant Ranch: A Non-Profit Conservation Center
Myakka Elephant Ranch is a conservation center located in Sarasota County, Florida. We are home to over 50 rescued and retired elephants from Asia. In addition to being a sanctuary for these amazing creatures, we strive to educate our guests on elephant conservation and provide them with an unforgettable experience. Our goal is to create awareness about the plight of this endangered species and instill respect for these animals that have been so important throughout history and across cultures.
Elephants are the world’s largest land animals. They’re also one of the world’s most intelligent creatures, ranking alongside dolphins and humans when it comes to brain power. And yet, they are an endangered species in Africa and Asia due to poaching for ivory products, habitat loss, human-elephant conflict, and encroachment by human settlements. Thankfully there is help available in the form of organizations like Myakka Elephas Ranch (Myr), a non-profit conservation center that strives to educate its guests on elephant conservation through every aspect of their operation – from tusk to tail.
